24.Using PC Messenger

24.1Messenger Screen Layout

Following screen is displayed when you log in the PC messenger.

1Profile–Your profile picture and name are displayed. Notification Talk button () to send notification message and Home button () to move to web service are located on the right of profile.

2Menu tab – It is the menu bar of functions (colleagues, chatting and notice) provided by the PC messenger. You can click the tab to navigate to the menu.

3Search window – You can search for a user by the name, department, title or phone number. When you enter a search word, the search result is displayed immediately.

4My Favorites–The users added to My Favorites are displayed. This part is empty when there is no user in My Favorites.

5Main screen – The detailed information of each menu such as the user list and chatting list is displayed.

6New chatting button – It is the button for group chatting.

7Minimization and menu button–They include a button to minimize the PC messenger screen and a menu button for Settings or logout. Click the Close button ( X ) to send the program to the system tray.

8Today - This is the first screen after login. Information such as mail that has not yet been confirmed or recently registered is displayed. When PC Messenger is running, it remembers the last selected tab and shows it.

The user list is displayed with the Organization Tree. You can use the Organization Tree only with the access privilege.

If you are not using the Organization Tree, you can enter a search word in the search window at the top of the messenger screen and search for the user.

24.2Chatting

The basic function of a PC messenger is chatting. You can chat using the PC messenger at any time since the program is sent to the system tray when the Close button is clicked.

When you run the PC messenger, it is set to the Colleague menu by default. The Organization Tree is displayed in the main screen of Colleague menu. The Organization Tree is structured in a tree form, and the lower level departments are displayed when you click .

Double click a colleague to chat with from the Organization Tree. The chatting window is displayed in a popup window.

  1. Chatting partner – The picture and name of the chatting partner are displayed. You can click the picture to check the profile of the user. The connection type of the user is displayed to the right. means the PC messenger while means the mobile app. When the user logs in the PC messenger or runs the mobile app, the PC messenger icon () or Mobile messenger icon () is displayed.

  2. Chatting input window – Enter the message and press the Enter key or click Send.

  3. MENU button – When you click the MENU button, the submenus are displayed.

    1. Always on top –The chatting window is always on top of other windows.

    2. Save messages – The chatting messages are saved in a file.

  4. Minimization/Close button – The chatting window is minimized or closed. Even when the chatting window is closed, the messages can still be checked in the Chatting menu.

For each user, the connection status can be checked with (mobile / messenger ) icons.


Hover mouse over the icon to check brief information with tool tip! According to Android/ iOS, “go_android_306_4127:Online” is displayed. These numbers are displayed in the code and are irrelevant to security or bug issues.

In addition, with iOS, you need to connect to chat room in mobile device to view the information online. When using mobile app functions other than chat room, “no connected” is displayed.

Sending File

You can exchange files during chatting. The Windows search window is displayed when you click Send file at the top of the chatting input window. Select a file to be sent in your computer. There is no limitation of capacity of the file sent.

Sending Capture

You can capture the content of the chatting window and send it immediate without having to run a separate image editing tool during chatting.

Click Send capture during chatting to run the MS Windows standard capture tool. Capture the content using the tool and send the image.

The capture tool is provided by MS Windows Vista,7, and 8 only.

If a capture image is not copied, check [Tool>Option>Always copy the captured content to clipboard] in the capture tool.

Adding Colleague

You can add a colleague to create a new chatting group during chatting. Click Add colleague at the top of the chatting input window to display a new chatting screen. Select a colleague to invite to chatting and click OK. Up to 30 users are allowed in a group chatting.

Saving Chatting Messages

If you need to save the messages or there is the content that may be needed later, you can save the messages into a list.

The chatting messages are saved in the following way:

  1. Click MENU in the chatting window.

  2. Click Save messages in the submenu.

  3. Enter the title of the file to save the chatting messages and click OK.

    Only the messages shown on the screen are saved. Click See previous messages to retrieve the chatting message from the server if you want to save the past messages.

You can check the saved chatting messages in MENU>Chatting message list. The messages in the saved file can be searched with text files (.txt extension).

Since the chatting message list is saved in the user’s PC, the saved message list is not found if the PC is changed.

24.3Group Chatting

The PC message also support group chatting. Up to 30 people can be involved in group chatting. Group chatting is described as follows:

The easiest way to begin group chatting is to drag & drop the user(s) to invite to chatting. There are other ways to begin group chatting as follows:

Inviting Colleagues during 1:1 Chatting

Open a chatting window with a user to chat with. Click Add colleague at the top of the chatting input window to invite other users to chatting.

Creating Group Chatting Window Using New Chatting Button

Click New chatting at the top of the PC messenger screen to display the group chatting screen. Click a colleague in the group chatting screen to add a new chatter. The chatters are displayed in the right side, and up to 30 people can be in a group chatting.

Place the mouse over a name to delete the user from group chatting. Click X next to the name.

Chatting with Members of a Department

Place the mouse over the name of a department in the Colleague tab of the PC messenger and click the right mouse button to display the department profile. Click Group chatting in the department profile to begin chatting with all members of the department.

If the selected department has a lower level department, Include lower level department is displayed. If you want to include the members of the lower level department in chatting, check Include lower level department and click Group chatting.

Selecting Multiple Users

You can begin the group chatting by selecting the users to chat with in the Colleague tab of the PC messenger. After all users are selected, click the right mouse button and click Group chatting in the profile screen.

24.4Forced Exit

This function is used to force exit of a specific user from chat room. It is used to make a specific user exit the chat room in case of account suspension or for other reasons.

Right-click mouse on the list of users displayed on the left and click [Exit].

24.5Send Notification Talk

You can send a group message to all or some employees that use the messenger. Send notifications quickly by using notification talk function.

Notification Talk button () is visible only to the authorized users.

A function to send notification message only to the allowed members through admin settings in Site Admin > General > Function Management > Notification Talk is activated.

Open notification talk to check the recently sent messages. The “date sent, content, notification target and transmission result” of the recently sent messages are recorded.

Click [Send Notification Talk] to open a window where you can enter a message.

Enter message at the top of window for writing. After entering message, set the receiver in <Notification Target> below. You can select a specific user and send message only to the selected user.

24.6Searching Colleagues

If it is difficult to find a colleague to chat with from the Organization Tree, you can find a user with a search word. Enter a search word in the search window at the top of the PC messenger screen to find the user. A search word should be at least one character long.

Click next to the search word to return to the Organization Tree.

24.7Checking User Profile

You can check a user profile in the Organization Tree. The profile displays the name, team (dept.), phone no., mobile phone no., and e-mail address.

To check a user profile, select the user in the Organization Tree and click the right mouse button.

The profile does not display the phone no. or mobile phone no. if the information is not in the Organization Tree.

When you check your own profile, the Edit profile button is displayed instead of the 1:1 Chatting button. Click Edit profile to navigate the profile editing screen.

If is displayed on the right of department name in profile card, hover mouse over it to check information of higher departments. button is displayed only when there are higher departments.

24.8My Favorites

A frequently communicated colleague can be added to My Favorites. Since the users in My Favorites are displayed at the top of the left side bar, they can be quickly accessed without having to scrolling up or down when there are many users.

The My Favorites list is also displayed in the employee information in the mobile app. It is applicable only when the employ information is displayed in a list form.

The My Favorites list contains a PM icon showing the DaouOffice login status. If the icon has a color, it means the user is logged in DaouOffice. Otherwise, the icon is displayed in gray.

Adding User to My Favorites

Click the My Favorites icon () in the user list to add the user to My Favorites. There is no limitation in the number of users in My Favorites.

Remove from Favorite

Click the My favorites icon () again to exclude the user from My Favorites.

24.9PC Messenger Setting

This function configures the PC messenger environment. Click PC MENU at the top of the PC messenger screen to display its submenus. Click Settings in the submenu.

Downloader Folder

It is the folder storing the files sent during the chatting. Click Select folder to change the download folder.
